Shirts reflect the things you love, the ideas you support, and the places you've been - a favorite sports team, where you went to school, a favorite cartoon character, the 5k you ran last year - the list goes on and on. Each shirt in the collection has a design that's based on behavioral patterns of specific mental disorders. It's a meaningful way to take pride in yourself and your brain.
Mental health is hard for people to talk about. It just is. Wearing a Living With: shirt can inspire someone to reach out, either to you or to a person in their life. Spark a conversation that starts with a sweet shirt and leads to new insights.
You decide what you wear every day. You buy it, you choose to wear it, and you put it on. Whether you have a mental illness or support someone who does, wearing it on your chest is proactive. Even if you're not ready to have a conversation about the way your brain works, it's a step in the right direction.
Living With: donates $2 of every shirt sold to Active Minds, a great organization working to destigmatize mental illnesses on college campuses. Active Minds encourages college students to speak out about mental health and shapes leaders on campus.
What exactly is Living With:?
Living With: is a project dedicated to empowering anyone dealing with mental health to be confident in themselves and their approach to handling daily obstacles. It started as a college thesis and it's grown to become a nationwide social endeavor that sparks new conversations and new perceptions about mental health.
But what's the point?
It takes hard work, support, and patience to deal with mental disorders. Attitude is a huge part of the struggle and changing an attitude can change a life. Shirts can't affect the chemical structure of the brain, but they can be a reminder of courage, strength, and personal achievements when it comes to mental health.
Where does $2 of each shirt go?
$2 of each shirt is donated to Active Minds, a non-profit organization working to improving mental health awareness on college campuses across the nation. Student-led groups get involved with the campus community to provide resources for those in need of some support. You can learn more about what they do here.

Who's behind this?
Living With: is the degree-project-turned-real-project of Dani Balenson, a recent graduate of the Rhode Island School of Design and designer working in Brooklyn, New York. This project is a combination of a lifelong struggle with ADHD, the opportunity to create a degree project, and a crazy notion that design can help change the world.
